The Evolution of The Electric Car – The 2011 Chevy Volt to the 2018 Chevrolet Volt
In 2011 the Chevy Volt revolutionized the car game. This year the new 2018 Chevrolet Volt arrived and with it brought a higher standard of excellence for electric vehicles. One such way the Volt stepped up its game is that the 2018 model has been buffed up, refined and smoothed over. Don’t worry, the Chevrolet Volt remains conceptually consistent with the original – it’s just been upgraded!
The 2018 Chevy Volt Has Increased Performance Capabilities Extending It’s Range
For many, it’s the engine that is the defining feature determining the success of an electric vehicle. The 2018 Chevy Volt utilizes a 18.4 kilowatt-hour battery-pack that has 20% more capacity than the original while some how managing to be 20 pounds lighter. This means that when fully charged, the 2018 Chevrolet Volt can go as far as 53 miles on electric power alone. That’s a 40% increase in EV range compared to last year’s model!
Improved Handling – Improved Mileage – Improved Range – The New Volt Is Improved!
Staying true to the style of the original, the 2018 Chevrolet Volt incorporates an electric power-train with a gasoline range extender generator. The gasoline range extender generator is a direct-injected 1.5-liter engine which powers up the electric motors in the event that the battery gets too low. This means that with this new engine the Volt’s cruising range has increased to about 420 miles, which is a pretty big jump from the last model’s 380 miles! Thanks to its low center of gravity, the new Chevy Volt also offers very impressive handling.
The 2018 Chevy Volt Boasts New Improved Technology Too – Learn About “Teen Driver”
In addition to these notable performance features, the new, 2018 Chevrolet Volt now provides the freedom teens want, with the added peace of mind parents need. The 2018 Chevy Volt offers Teen Driver technology, which is a built in system that allows parents to keep better track of their kids when they are on the road, in addition to encouraging safe driving habits in teens! Some of the awesome features include muting the audio system when the front seat occupants aren’t wearing their safety belts, giving audible and visual warnings when the vehicle is traveling over predetermined speeds, setting a limit on music volume, and informing parents when the available safety features like Forward Collision Alert or Lane Departure Warning are triggered.
